January 2024 Edition!

I don't really know what to say in Updates, plus writing big paragraphs about myself didn't really feel right.

Does that mean I'll stop? Of course not! I found a new way to basically do the same thing!
This page will be kept updated anytime I play or watch something, I have big plans for that this year!
I want to try and play through most Mario, Kirby and Sonic games, they're all games I've played one time but I never really beat most of them legitimately (speedrunning always gets the best of me wwww)

Well enough about that, let's get started! Stay Happy~

New Game ! [01]
Now for a start this is THE start!
I've playing this game for as long as I can remember, but I never actually got around to beating all the levels... Going fast was all I could think of!
But that changed today, and I must say, I can see why this game made such a big impact, it's still so fun even to this day! Yes you have to get accustomed to its weird physics, especially the jumps, but once you've mastered that, it feels so good to move through the levels.
The game isn't that difficult (I only Game Overed once, in World 7), but that doesn't mean it's easy either, the difficulty curve still feels perfect to this day, being harder and harder while never being unfair. Finding Power Ups or Lives is always so satisfying since they get so scarce by the end!
Everything is fine, except for level 7-4. This level is not hard, it only has one Firebar and one Podoboo as enemies, but it's a maze level, and the path you have to take is so specific that it's basically impossible to figure out on your own! If you don't go through the right path, the level just loops over and over again... I'd say this is the only actual bad part of this game.

But yeah, apart from that I had a lot of fun playing this game normally, it still holds up very well and is still a must play for everyone!

I've been alright I think? I'm not too sure, nothing bad happened but nothing really good either. School is hard.

New Manga ! [01]
So. First manga of the year eh? And it's... Golf???
I actually was so confused when I first started, because I just read the first line of the Mangadex synopsis that says : "Miyasato Haruka, lover of video games and sweets, was going to spend her school days immersed in video games", so I thought it was going to be a manga about gaming or something.
Well I was surprised in the first chapter where they not only started to talk about golf but also when it had maids right from the start (maids weirdly show up a lot in manga and because of something a friend said I keep noticing it more and more).

After that initial surprise, I still decided to continue with it for some reason. But I guess it was worth it! It's a very simple slice of life, the drama and character actions are what you'd expect, but just like any slice of life, it still has its own personality and is a fun read, you can really feel the author's passion for golf wwww! Plus it's very short so it's just sweet to read through, and Oriko's art is very cute, I'm looking forward to their new manga "Fushigi na Neko no Machi Meltier"... It's about maids again WHY

It's a simple and nice read with themes you don't often see, I'd say it's worth checking out!

New Movie ! [01] (Light) Spoiler Warning!
Oh wow wow wow! How am I supposed to start with this?
This movie somehow does everything correctly if you're a deep Precure fan or not! If you are, you probably will get overwhelmed with the amount of amazing references, but if you aren't (or not yet at least, like me!), you'll look forward to everthing you will see in other Precure shows! This made me REALLY want to know more about Precure and I can't wait to discover all about it! So expect more Magical Girls this year~
The story is straight to the point and wastes no time! No unnecessary exposition or ending, you jump right in and right out of it, it's so good and it actually makes sense for it to be this way thanks to the whole thing with Cure Supreme! God I love Puca's arc too, you really forget this was originally a kids show at first, I wish more cartoons actually had deep moments like this it was so amazing! Seeing all the Precure together so beautifully animated gets me so excited for my future with this series I can't stress it enough! The story seemed like it would be confusing to me since I know barely about it, but just knowing the basics was enough for it to be so pleasant to watch. Every interaction still felt so cool even between characters I didn't know, I can't wait to watch it again once I know them all deeper! And oh my god, everything the original 2 Precure did was SO HEART PUMPING THIS MOVIE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO MAKE YOU FEEL HYPE! The score, just like Hirogaru Sky's (I'll get to it soon...) is amazing, the rock, the songs, it's all so well timed and just straight up amazing for your ears, the animation is gorgeous and just so lively, the character's expressions are so funny yet so genuine I can't gush enough about this movie!
If you're a fan of Precure, go watch it right now! And if you aren't, go watch it right now too, surely it will turn you into one.

I tried not to spoil too much because the story is still worth it, but even if you don't care about the story, it's such a treat for your eyes and your ears, my heart is still pumping because of it. I can't wait to see more Precure~

New Game ! [02]
Talk about a new game, www
This game is an arcade version of the first Super Mario Bros, but since it was designed with eating up your cash in mind, it's a fairly harder version of said game! It not only has modifications to the original levels, but some are completely new. The difficulty of this game is actually really good, it is indeed harder than the original, but it's not unfair like 2J (Which I will get to later sadly...).

This random Paratroopa they added in 4-1 threw me off so much the first time, it was really funny.

At first, since this is an arcade game, I wanted to beat it without using any continues, and it turned out this was a very fun challenge! Because of the difficulty, it made coins and power-up way more valuable than ever, making finding new hidden ones always exciting! Learning up on coin placements and optimal routes really is something I haven't done before but it was nice for a change of pace!... Until 7 days later when I was still stuck on world 6. The diffculty curve of this game is brutal, World 6 is hard but I guess it's fine, but World 7 is where it decides to really want you to die (World 7 again huh..). 7-1 is just a normal level, but 7-2 is a water level (already a bad sign of what's to come), but for some reason it has a really strong "wind like" effect, pushing you to either side randomly but also pulling you to the bottom! This is one of the only part I would call truly bullshit. 7-3 is a bridge level with tiny platforms and a lot of Cheep-Cheeps jumping up, but it's fun to rush through. And 7-4... Same deal as last time, a maze level... Where they changed the path! They made it even more confusing! It's not hard just annoying again, I sure hope the next game won't have any of that ! (< foreshadowing, i'm not looking forward to it NOO). World 8 is practically the same as in the base game.
So yeah, this game is a nice harder touch on the original one, the challenge is worth it and is a must play for any fans of it (unlike some other game... i'm already critizing the next one oh god), I recommend it a lot, though please use continues if you don't want to end up insane.

The next Mario game I should be playing is the 2J I've mentioned a few times, an even HARDER take on the original SMB, though I've had enough of Mario for now so I'll play it in a while. I wonder what I'll play next!

New Anime ! [0.5]
This is a special episode for the 3 season anime Jashin-chan Dropkick!

This episode was able to be made thanks to crowdfunding all over 2023, and seeing its development happen was really fun, from weird livestreams to a purposfully badly made mobile game. I really loved the first 3 seasons, so it's safe to say I was looking forward to this episode... Except I completely missed the fact that it got released back in December!

Jashin-chan Dropkick is a comedy anime filled with bad characters (bad in the sense that they are stupid, I still love them so much), and a ton of references, and this episode follows suit with that!, and even goes to the extreme of making their whole town an apocalypse just as an excuse to go to another one, just like the Chitose special.

So the story isn't that important, it's just extremely convienient to show off every character for one last time, and it's still as messy and as funny as ever! Even bringing back the "don't point at people" gag at the end, a favorite of mine! So yeah, this is basically just fanservice but this is what it was advertised about and it was amazing! It had a lot of references to "Fist of the Northstar" as well, for no particuliar reason. I love how free the writers can be at some points, just putting in dumb fun stuff for the sake of it.

I'd say check it out if you're a fan of the original ones, and if you aren't go watch said ones!
I won't count this as a full anime since it's only one episode, so that's 0.5 anime down!

New Anime ! [01] (Light) Spoiler Warning!
Told you we'd talk about this on Sunday!
Today, the last episode of Hirogaru Sky aired, and oh my, what an ending it was.

The whole show seems like your usual Magical Girl stuff, just a typical show for kids, but in contrary to new Western cartoons (weeb), Precure decided to have a deeper story and feelings for this season. It still is a Monster of the Day schtick (not that that's a bad thing), but everything happens for a reason, Villains aren't evil just because, and the characters don't exist just to defeat them. The character development probably is my favorite part of this show, they aren't just one note, they sometimes change, for the better or not! But they learn about their mistakes in a way that fits them, every episode has a purpose, even the "filler" ones serve to getting to know the characters more, and because of that, you get way way too attached to them.

I keep gushing about the characters, but it really is the greatest strength of this anime, Sora wants to be a Hero, so she's always strong and determined, but sometimes this catches up to her and she starts doubting herself, Mashiro is just a regular school girl, very supportive to Sora, but feels selfconcious about the fact that she is "weaker" than her. Tsubasa is not only a Magical Girl Boy, but also a bird who can't fly! This not only shows anyone can be strong no matter what they are, but he's also great at showing that your dreams can always be reached, no matter how far, if you try to be strong enough you can do it! Ageha is an Adult Precure, wanting to become the greatest nursery teacher ever, a dream that makes her seem really mature, she knows what she wants and needs to do, but sometimes this makes her a bit too protective, turning around against her. And lastly, Ellee-chan is a baby who appeared from the Sky of Skyland. Being the Child of Destiny, she has insane powers such as allowing Precures to exist, or even becoming one later on. At first, she seems like just an annoying goofy mascot character, but she has actual development. It's basic baby stuff, she starts walking, and the first time she talks is an amazing moment, but all of this isn't for nothing, she may be a child but she was made to save the world, and so her development is about how she wants to help the others but can't, so she does her best to be helpful until one day, becoming a Precure herself.

So yeah, safe to say this show really was a hit on me, the last episode being all goodbyes and all after an incredible fight scene might be the first time I've cried this much at an anime www. Not only because of how good it was, but also thanks to what this anime represents to me, I binged it faster than I have anything to catch up with the last releases (Watching almost 50 episodes in about two weeks really make you attached to it wwww), and seeing new art on Twitter relating to what happened in the last episode, fighting with my Friend to see who could watch it faster, making theories of what could happen was something I've never done before, but doing it was really changing for me. And that's why I'll watch the new "Wanderful Precure" episodes the day they release, and I'll try to gaslight my friends into doing so too, so get ready!

See you all in a year, Precure ! (Unless I watch another Precure during that time, which will probably happen...)
