Third month! What's gonna happen?!
Kirby's Adventure probably is the most impressive NES game to me, it has SO much content, it looks amazing, the music is really great, and it's actually fun to play! It controls perfectly, it has a bit of momentum physics and they're so so good, you can zip through levels really fast if you know what you're doing! It has hidden rooms, minigames, even a percentage counter, multiple save files, I know it's a late NES game, but all of this is REALLY impressive, I can't say it enough.
This game has aged extremely great, apart from the few lags, it honestly feels like a game that could have been made today, it even has callbacks from the first game, but also set a lot of staples for the series! This game never gets boring, each level feels unique, and like its own place, you really feel like you're progressing through the world instead of just going through game levels! The little cutscenes are really nice and funny, the final fights are so grand and honestly feel just, really good, I know I keep repeating myself but this game is that good! Probably one of my favorites of all times.
This is a must play for anyone, I even 100%'d it, so you know it's good since I basically never do that! Go, now!!
It has things for everyone! You can rush through the game if you want, or spend time trying to find hidden things, or do the hard challenging levels, there's a ton of different paths, it's great! Plus, almost every level is full of weird gimmicks and things you wouldn't expect like changing from your amount of coins, having disco lights, or flying saws!
I'd say this is why I think this game is better than SMB3, once again, this one was very good, but played it way too safe, but World isn't scared to do wacky things, and it works very well! Even the cutscenes make no sense and are all very funny. Plus it gave us Yoshi and that, that's very good
It's definitely a must play for anyone!
I watched the original Wataten years ago after watching 10 hours of Hinata yelling, and it was a fairly fun and unusual anime, I quite liked it... 5 years ago oh my god.
The main shtick is that Miyako (Yes, that's where it came from, I just changed the last letter~) is a loner but likes making clothes and sweets, and so she does it for her little sister and her friends. The characters are pretty funny even if a bit one note, it makes for a fun mindless watch!
And the same is true for the movie, which I decided to check out since I made my entire online presence based on one of its characters. It doesn't really have a story, it's just a good mindless feel-good vacation movie, nothing more nothing less! Because of that, I don't have much more to say about it, it's just a way to spend more time with these characters. What I'd say though, is that this movie looks somehow extremely good, the lighting and all gives it such a nice vibe, and it even has the actual movie aspect ratio!
So yeah, if you liked the original, go watch this too!
Just like the first Land game, this one is wacky and has Mario go through worlds he never had before and after, like inside a Giant Koopa, or, a Giant Himself?? This game makes no sense and I love it. I really like how the music is always a different version of the main theme, that was very cool. The levels are fairly long and Mario looks and controls how he should!
There is one thing though. The Rabbit Power-Up is WAY too overpowered, it allows you to float infinitely without losing any height, and with that, you can skip half of the levels and cheese the bosses very quickly. Thanks to that, I beat the game in about 40 minutes, but it still made it a bit underwhelming.
It's still a great game though, I'd recommend it!
Sooo where to start, I don't know what to say. This game first of all, is VERY long, its 40 levels and every level is a slow walk to the right, it's honestly not that great. The music was funny at first but it got jarring fast. The goal of this game is to get as much coins as you need by the end, but you really need A LOT to get the best ending, so I didn't care about that. Thankfully, like Land 2, it has an overpowered flying power-up, so it wasn't all too bad, but it still wasn't that fun to go through. It's also VERY slow, and the jumps feel a bit weird.
I can see why this game got many sequels, it has a lot of potential, but this one just isn't it. Just play the first two Land games.
I love how this game looks, the crayon style works very well and it honestly has my favorite design for iconic Mario enemies. Yoshi controls really great, though I'd love if the flutter jump would make you go higher, just jumping around feels fun! The overall gameplay is good, but it's not my cup of tea, I love the platforming focused levels, but it has a lot of explorations one where you have to find a key and then the way to its door. I got lost a LOT because of that, but finding the right answer to the problem was kinda fun everytime. (i only had to look it up once)
Overall, it's a great game, and something different than the usual Mario formula, so if that's not really your thing, maybe try this one!
One that I've beaten a lot of times, but it was always through speedrunning, just like SMB1, I've never actually beaten the game without skipping a bunch of stuff. But wow, it's great, Mario controls perfectly, I honestly spent a lot of time in front of the castle just jumping around everywhere because of how fun just doing that was!
In contrary to 2D games, you don't have a goal at the end of a level, but instead, missions that grant you stars. Some of those can be convoluted, but they're still fun to find, so it's nice. Every level is completely unique, and it's so cool when you figure out what is where and you know where to go, it's a really unique feeling. The platforming sections can be a bit wonky, but the ways you can shmoove are so cool!
Its a classic, everyone should play it, so go do so!
The update added a new highly enticipated playable character, The Noise! And just like Peppino, he feels amazing to control, but even MORE insane. He bounces around everywhere, slams into walls, you'd think that's bad but it makes it even more fun, it might be my preferred way of playing it now! Plus some other additions I wont spoil were so funny, I love this game. The update is more of a New Game+ of sort, since you need to know a bit about the og game to actually do good at it, but apart from that, it's really really good
I won't talk too much about Pizza Tower itself since the main focus of this playthrough was the new character, but it still is an incredibily fun game. I still need to get 100% on it but it's so long to do thaaaat, I don't have the skill required for it www
To me, Sonic CD is a great idea. The story is interesting, the visuals are really wacky and nice, the soundtrack (at least one of them) is really good! But the game is just not it.
For some reason, it's really laggy, so it makes Sonic feel really sluggish. The music doesn't even loop, and the level design, oh boy. Sonic is about speed, but this game puts that to the side to put exploration in the front, and that's really not what I want from a Sonic game. They should have exploration, but those shouldnt be the main focus. Plus going to the Past/Future is really convoluted and weird.
Playing this game normally, it'll just feel like a Sonic game with really bad level design. Play it "as intended", and it'll be a nice jog, finding stuff hidden is fun, but it doesn't feel like a Sonic game at all.
To me, it's the weakest of the Classics, which is sad because it's ideas are so so good.
This will become a theme with later Sonic games, but this one is the first instance of a lot of missed potential.
Also don't play the original version lmao, this is the one time where I'll say the CW ports are more worth it
To get to this game's "Ending", you need to defeat the bosses of 3 different boards, and to do that, you need to get at the top of said boards. The ways of doing so are sometimes put on luck so that wasn't too good, but pinball still is a high skill game and I really liked that about it, the physics were on point, even the shaking. It's a nice distraction, I'd say give it a shot and shoot for a highscore instead of trying to actually beat it!
I don't have much else to say, I mean, it sure is pinball!
This manga is just a very simple slice of life! Except the main character is a vampire! You'd think that means it's different than other slices of lives but... Not really, as she's a surprisingly normal person-like vampire, lol. It's still a very nice feel good manga, but nothing too unique. I still really enjoyed it! Reading it during breaks or in the bus was really nice~ The characters are all pretty much one-note but that's expected in 4koma, they're very likable though, plus it's yuri so of course it's good.
I don't really know what else to say, it's just a good slice of life like all the others! I don't know if I'll ever get tired of them even if they're all so similar haha
This manga has one unique thing though. It had two chapters of a fake spinoff type-thing called "FuwaFuwa Patisserie", about girls working in a cake shop and it honestly was way more interesting than the main story LMAO, I WISH WE HAD MORE, the character tropes are really funny, like the shop owner ONLY makes and eats cakes for absolutely no reason and it's weirdly funny?? The vampire manga ended in like 2021 but I'm still praying FuwaFuwa Patisserie gets its own one.
I honestly wouldn't know how to describe this game, it's like golf where you put a ball in a hole, but the controls are like, extremely good because of how simple they are. And the copy abilites just add so much variety, and like you can kind of choose where the hole will end up, and the multiplayer is like the most chaotic fun thing ever?? (i have no one to play it with now but i swear when i did it was so good). And at the end you fight a giant Dedede mechs and the entire place explodes for no reason??? This one is probably the most insane Kirby game, and definitely one of my favorites, I could play it for hours trying to desesperately get hole in ones or messing up my friends' scores just because I can. The game doesn't even let you input a name, instead having you draw a member card and it's so cool.
I'd say this game is a must play for anyone, Kirby fan or not, so go do that! Now!
Presentation wise, it's the exact same as MM3, it looks and sounds great, but maybe that makes it a bit redundant. Mega Man controls the same, except now you can charge the Mega Buster! And it feels a bit useless because of how long it takes to fully charge..
Apart from that, the levels felt way shorter, but also way more unfair with the enemy patterns and placements, but it felt like there was less enemy variation in general.
The final boss can only by hit by ONE specific weapon, which you probably will have depleted by that point, I had to purposefully get a game over to beat him! At least the story was a bit more interesting this time.
And it's really good! I mean, it's Puyo Puyo so they couldn't mess this up. The game has such a charm, especially in the cutscenes, everyone is so mean to each other, even Kirby talks and I find all of that so funny. For some reason this game loosely follows Kirby's Adventures narrative? Even featuring Heavy Mole so that was kinda cool. Also at the start of every stage, there's a character call and they're all amazing performances.
I don't really have much else to say, it's just Puyo Puyo after that. I struggled a bit towards the end because 5 color Puyo is even harder than 4 color one, but I wanna get better at both!
And man, I wish I did sooner! It was amazing! I love how it has different story lines for each characters but sometimes they meet up or just cross path, it really feels like one big lively world! I would love for my universe to be something like that. Plus, every character has so much depth and still are all so funny, but can also be deep, it's just really really good, I just wanted to keep knowing more about each of them! It's just a slice of life with yuri but what else could you ask for!
It's extremely funny and clever, I found myself actually laughing at a lot of the jokes, keeping a straight face was really hard sometimes~ I don't really want to say much because it's such a good experience, so good read it now now now now now!
I'm really sad that it's on hiatus though... I hope the author finds the motivation once more!
Then I opened it and saw maids on the first page, I thought for sure my assumption was correct and that it'd just be weird yaoi crossdress things but... After actually reading it, I can say that it actually portrays these feelings of wanting to be someone or something else very well! I found myself relating to a lot of the scenes and it even was quite eye opening on some points, having struggled with a lot of the same things these characters went through, it was a very interesting read! I saw someone made a review saying this manga was bad because characters often snap at each other for small reasons, but sometimes also them just talking about clothes and stuff and like, this isn't a bad thing at all? They make mistakes and try to find and express themselves and that's the point!! It was really good in that and once again I could relate a lot! I really should stop beefing with internet reviewers, most of the time they miss the point... Wait a minute...
The ending felt a bit rushed, but it still gave a good closure! I recommend it, though it might not hit as much for other people, I personally really enjoyed it.
This game can be good, the setting is very nice and refreshing, the story is a change from the norm, and Mario controls relatively well! I had a lot of fun with this game, the missions are more in depth than SM64, and the world feels more lively, what you do actually has a lasting impact on the levels! But... Sometimes, there's some missions where you really don't know what to do (even what you need to beat the game!), and some of the level designs can be REALLY brutal, I had so so many game overs. This game has very low lows, but also fairly high highs, It's really a mixed bag but the good really is good! I really hope they come back to this idea, Fludd has so much missed opportunities, I hope we see more one day! The game also is kinda buggy, I feel through the floor a couple of times, and it also had a few slow downs, but nothing too game breaking.
This game is still very unique to this day! Having cool Mario interactions, cool exclusive enemies, and the way Mario can zoom through levels is amazing! I wish there were a little more power ups? But it's not that bad. I really like how you can pick what world you go to, how unique the bosses are but also how fast you can obliterate them, this game is just a regular Mario game, but a really good one! I feel like this is maybe what Mario 3 would be if it was made at that time, and even with this, I like it a lot! There's not much else to say, it's a kind of new take on classic Mario, and it does that very well!
